The style is very simplistic in terms of the writing and the art, and fans of Mac Barnett and Jon Klassen's earlier collaboration, Extra Yarn , will recognize this to be this duo's signature style. The humor for readers comes in the digging scene pictures where Klassen has drawn massive hidden diamonds in the soil that the boys miss discovering by inches as they choose to change digging directions here and there. It leaves the reader yelling at the boys on the page, "No! Dig that way! Ah, you're missing it!" It gave us a good laugh.
