IF you love some of Chris Van Allsburg's classics like The Polar Express and Jumanji, this book, The Sweetest Fig, needs to be the next on your list. My second grader and I read it today, and it was too good not to share!
It has everything you would expect from this wonderful author - inspiring illustrations, unique story line, and an ending with a twist. What I love about this story was the way that we couldn't judge this book by its cover. The cover illustration didn't reveal what this clever little story is about, and I won't either! By the end, the kiddo and I both had smiles on our faces.
