What do elementary school age kids (6-9 years old) like to read?  They still want to laugh.  They still enjoy pictures book but are most likely learning to read or just getting comfortable with reading on their own, so they will be wanting to read something more sophisticated like chapter books .  There is a whole world of early reader chapter books that will overjoy this age group.  It's so fun to watch kids at this age find a chapter book that they love and emerge into the world of loving to read!
